The Tropic Guide to Peruvian Chanchamayo Coffee

Here at Tropic Coffee, we're all about sharing our love for coffee exploration. Our goal is simple: to bring you closer to unique coffee experiences by helping you to discover single origins you might not have tried yet. This week, we’re heading to Peru!

Nestled in Peru's Chanchamayo province, our Peruvian Chanchamayo coffee is a testament to the region's rich coffee heritage. Interestingly, Chanchamayo produces approximately 40% of Peru’s total coffee production.

Grown at altitudes ranging from 1200 to 1350 metres, this hard bean coffee boasts varieties like Caturra, Typica, Pache, and Bourbon.

Flavour Profile
Tropic Coffee’s Grade 1 Peruvian Chanchamayo is a light bodied roast, with medium acidity and delicate floral notes.

Small Producers, Big Quality

Produced by small farmers with less than two hectares of land, each harvest yields around 3,000 lbs. of coffee. These farmers focus on sustainable practices, ensuring high-quality beans and a responsible approach to cultivation.

Natural Process, Distinctive Flavour

Harvested between June and August/September, the beans undergo a careful washing process. Left to sun-dry at these high altitudes, the beans absorb unique flavours from the Andean climate. This results in a cupping score of 80 and above.
